When the prominent Eminent Domain firm of Best Best & Krieger needed an expert in relocation services that could review and analyze the impacts of relocating a 19 acre sawmill that had been operating in the San Bernardino area for over 80 years, they called on Brett Paulson, SR/WA, R/W-NAC.
This operating sawmill was the only of its kind in the San Bernardino area. Providing jobs to over 80 employees and servicing many retail and building centers in southern California, it was imperative to work closely with all parties to assure the business could relocate if the owners desired to do so.
Mr. Paulson's expertise provided BBK and CJUSD the understanding and expectation of what this monumental task would entail. In cooperation with affiliate members, he was able to ascertain realastic timelines, potential delays and proviede cost estimates used for state funded budgeting and council approvals.
He managed the relocation process for CJUSD, coordinating necessary subcontractors in preparation for this difficult relocation. He prepared site analysis studies, relocation notices, provided assistance to the business and coordinated with legal council during condemnation proceedings.
These efforts were essential in assisting BBK reach an amicable agreement with the globally traded company and allowed the CJUSD to keep its construction schedule.
